Q
Why AFP?
A
- Build upon my research experience (protected time during AFP would allow me to work on a project)
- continue to be involved in teaching
- use the opportunity to develop professional relationships with and learn from excellent clinicians and academics. Identify supervisors for future projects.
- develop my clinical competencies from medical school
I want to do AFP because it will give me the opportunity to develop my skills, have experiences and gain qualifications that will stand me in excellent stead for my future career and development.

Q
Why research?
A
- Really enjoyed research experience to date, and want to continue to gain experience and develop my skills
- I’m an inquisitive person who wants to know why things happen and how things work. Academic research provides the opportunity to really delve into a topic, understand the mechanisms of disease and think creatively about how to intervene in these processes. - this is why I did biomed!
- being in touch with the latest research makes you a better clinician. Being able to interpret and apply evidence. Recognise when pharmaceutical are overstating the benefits of therapies
- research is forward looking and aims to fill gaps in our knowledge in order to improve people’s lives. This would be a privilege to be a part of.
