What is Flash Memory? And why is it used?
Flash memory is a type of peripheral that is ideal for portable digital devices because:
It doesn’t lose data when turned off
Has no moving parts so not easily damaged
It is removable and can be used to transfer data between devices
Different types of Flash Memory?
Secure Digital (SD) card - stores up to a certain amount of data (e.g. 16GB, 32GB) and has no moving parts
Micro SD card - same as normal SD cards but smaller
SDHC ( High Capacity) card - stores a higher amount
USB flash drive - plugs into the USB port and generally has more storage than SD cards
SDXC ( Extended Capacity) card - stores up to 2TB
