What do cultural factors that influence choice of personal diet relate to?
- Cultural practices and traditions involving sharing a meal together.
- Guidelines of what some cultures can and can’t eat.
What do political factors that influence choice of personal diet relate to?
The availability and price of food because of trade agreements between governments-influencing food available in certain countries; therefor your diet.
Give an example of an ecological factor.
- Refusing to eat food transported form far away.
- Only eating organic food products.
- Not eating meat/animal products; vegans, vegetarians.
Give an example of a social factor.
- Likely to have the same sort of food at school as friends.
- Birthday parties.
- Family’s food choices.
Give an example of an economic factor.
- A person who doesn’t earn a lot of money will choose cheaper food to suit their budget. They will often plan their meals in advance and use the same basic ingredients to make different dishes.
- People with more money will have a wider choice of food and will be able to choice food that may be considered luxuries.
Give an example of cultural factors.
- In Jewish households, the food must be kosher.
- In Muslim households, the food must be Halaal.
Give an example of a political factor.
- Different labels of food products.
- Countries might import a lot of a certain food product, but non of another.
