■ Localized in ammatory lesions caused by continuous exposure to cold (Fig. 7-11).
■ More common in children; women with a low body mass index.
■ Single or multiple burning erythematous or purplish swellings on proximal ngers, toes, heels, nose,
and ears; also on calves and thighs (e.g., o ten seen in bicycle or horseback riders).
■ Resolves in 2 to 3 weeks.
■ Management and prophylaxis: warm, loosely tting clothes.
