U-turn

Tap brake petal lightly a few times to warn then you are slowing down, slow down to encourage them to pass you, change lanes if possible, if this doesn’t work pull off the road when it is safe to let the vehicle pass you
Avoiding a collision
1) stop
2) turn or steer away
3) speed up
Stopping without ABS.
- press brakes as hard as you can without locking them
- if vehicle starts to skid, let up on brake petal
- as soon as vehicle stops skidding press brake petal again
- incase of brake failure, pump brakes three or four times
Making a quick safe turn
- don’t apply brakes
- do not turn more than needed
- be prepared to counter-steer

-used to get your speed up to that of traffic (scan ahead and look for gap in the freeway) merge at the same speed as freeway traffic
Driving in fog…
Use low-beam headlights & fog lights
Incase car gets stuck..
- shift to low gear and keep the front wheels straight
- shift to reverse and slowly back up as far as possible
- shift to low gear again and drive forward
- put boards or tree branches under tires if stuck in deep mud/snow
By law headlights must be on…
- 30min before sunrise
- 30min after sunset
- whenever you cannot see within 1000ft ahead
