The degree of injury and potential for regeneration of the nerve. The majority of research indicates that children tend to have better outcomes after peripheral nerve damage than adults, although some research sees no difference between the populations. The earlier repair of a nerve yields a better outcome; the more distal the lesion the better the outcome secondary to the nerve length that requires recovery
