everything around us or anything that takes up space and has mass.
What are periods?

What are groups?
the vertical columns in the periodic table.
What is the periodic table?
It is a classification system for elements.
What are the three main categories for elements in the periodic table?
non-metals, semi-metals, metals
What is the meaning of ductile?
can be stretched into thin wires.
What is the meaning of malleable?
can be bent and flattened into thin sheets with out breaking.
What is the largest group in the periodic table ?
metals.
What is the second largest group in the periodic table?
non-metals
What is the smallest group in the periodic table?
semi-metals
Name one difference between a metal and non metal in terms of appearance.
Metals are shiny and non metals are dull.
At room temperature what state of matter would you find a metal and non-metal in.
metal: solid except for mercury
non-metal: liquid or gas
Why are semi metals not classified as metals of non metals?
because they have some properties of both metals and non-metals.
