Furcation Grades

Answer 1

1=incipient bone loss, can enter furcation
2=partial bone loss, can pass into furcation
3=total bone loss, can pass through opening of furcation
4=same as grade 3 total bone loss, can pass through opening of furcation, with VISIBLE clinical view

Mobility

Answer 2

Take two blunt end instruments
1=slight mobility
2=moderate >1mm displacement
3=severe mobility, moves vertically and is depressible in the tooth socket

Question 3

Gingival Margin

Answer 3

• measure from gingival margin to CEJ(cementoenamel junction)
• Recession= positive value
• Pseudopocket= negative value

Where to check furcations?

Answer 4

1. Maxillary first premolars: has a buccal and palatal root; enter mesially and distally
2. Maxillary molars: has a mesial-buccal(MB), disto-buccal(DB), and palatal root; enter center, lingual mesially and distally
3. Mandibular molars: has a mesial and distal root; enter center
