Perimeter, area and other shape stuff Flashcards
How do you find the area of a rectangle?
Multiply the length by the height
(Length x Height)
How do you find the area of a triangle?
Half of the base multiplied by the height
(1/2Base x Height)
How do you find the area of a trapeizium?
Half of the height multiplied by the sum of the length of its two parallel lines
(1/2Height x (a + b)
How do you find the area of a parallelogram?
The base multiplied by the height
(Base x Height)
How do you find the area of a circle?
Pi multiplied by the radius squared
(π x r^2)
How do you find the perimeter of a shape?
Add together the sides
How do you find the circumference of a circle (2 ways)
- Pi multiplied by the diameter
(π x D) - Pi multiplied by double the radius
(π x (r x 2))
How do you find the number of sides a shape has by the exterior angles?
(e.g: Each exterior angle of a regular polygon is 15°.
How many sides has the regular polygon?)
360 divided by the exterior angle
(360°÷n)
How do you find the size of a shape’s exterior angles by the number of sides it has?
(e.g: Work out the size of an exterior angle of a regular polygon with 8 sides.)
Subtract the size of the interior angle from 180°
(180°-n)
How do you find the area of a semi-circle?
Pi multiplied by radius squared divided by 2
(π × (r^2)/2)
