What does Pizz (Pizzicato) mean?
Tells string players to play the strings with their right hand.
What does Arco mean?
Tells string players to use the bow when playing a passage of music.
What does Slide mean?
Tells the guitarist to play two notes by moving from one fret to another by sliding their finger.
What does Hammer On mean?
Tells the guitarist to pick the first note and then to play a second note of higher pitch on an adjacent fret by placing another finger down.
What does Pull Off mean?
The opposite of Hammer On.
What does Bend mean?
When the guitarist plucks a string and with their other hand, bends the string so the pitch moves up a half or whole step.
What does Arpeggio mean?
Rather than playing all the notes at once the musician is to play the notes separately from bottom to top.
What does Ped (Pedal) mean?
Tells the pianist to use the pedal while playing a passage so that the notes ring on.
What does 8ve mean?
Tells the player to play a passage an octave higher than written.
