Engine Failure in flight procedure

Trim and bank into good engine Identify/Verify: 1. Identify - Dead foot = Dead engine 2. Verify - Power to idle on dead engine. No change in performance- verified
Fix or Feather procedure
Fix: Check Red Items 1. Fuel - ON 2. Carburetor Heat -ON 3. Mixture - Set (max available power) 4. Boost pumps - ON 5. Magnetos - Cycle left--right--both Feather 1. Fether propeller on inoperative engine 2. poser as needed on good engine to maintain altitude/airspeed (minimum speed : BLUE LINE 85kts)
Shut down engine procedure
Mixture - Idle cutoff Fuel Selector - off Cowl flaps - Open on operative engine, closed on inoperative engine Fuel Pump - off Magnetos - off Notify ATC Land as soon as practical **Refer to checklist**
Engine Failure During or After Takeoff procedure
Loss of directional control on the ground: Throttle - Idle Regain control Break Straight ahead Airborne loss of directional control: Usable runway remaining and gear down: Throttle - Idle Land Break Straight ahead Airborne loss of directional control: no usable runway remaining or gear up: -All available power ( maintain heading and blue line) -Clean up > flaps up > gear up -Identify/Verify Dead engine -Feather dead engine -Return for landing
Takeoff procedures

ON FINAL APPROACH (left-to-right flow check) Gear Indicators - 3 green Propellers - full forward Mixture full forward Flaps - full down
Windsock - check
Airspeed - 85 until short final
Over the threshold - confirm 3 green
Touch and go

Perform MCA
Clearing turn Set power to 15" G - gas and boost pumps on U- Gear Down below 140 kts M - Mixtures rich P - Prop 2400 RPM C - Cowl flaps Open S - Seat Belts are secure
- *Pitch controls airspeed (use trim!)
- *Power controls altitude (approx 15” - 16”)
Recover Set power to 20" Flaps up above 71 KIAS G - gas on and boost pumps off U- Gear up above 85 KIAS M - cruise lean P - Prop 2400 RPM C - closed S - Seat Belts are secure
Power - off Stall
Clearing turn Set power to 15" G - gas and boost pumps on U- Gear Down below 140 kts M - Mixtures rich P - full forward below 90 KIAS C - Cowl flaps Open S - Seat Belts are secure
- *Full flaps
- *Establish Landing descent attitude (about 500 FPM)
- *Pitch to maintain altitude and heading until stall warning or buffet
Recover full power, at least 65 KIAS (pitch for straight and level) Flaps up above 71 KIAS G - gas on and boost pumps off U- Gear up above 85 KIAS M - cruise lean P - Prop 2400 RPM C - closed S - Seat Belts are secure
