Classification of drugs used in peptic ulcer

A

1) drugs that Inh gastric acid secretion
a. PPIs- omeprazole, esmoprazole, pantoprazole, rabeprazole, lansoprazole
b. H2 blocker- cimetidine, ranitidine, famotidine
c. Anti cholinergic (M1 blocker)- pirenzipine, telenzipine
d. PG antagonist- misoprostol

2) ulcer protective
Sucralfate and colloidal bismuth subcitrate

3) drugs that neutralise gastric acid
Non systemic antacids- magnesium hydroxide, magnesium trisilicate, aluminum hydroxide, calcium carbonate

Systemic antacids- sodium bicarbonate, sodium citrate

4) anti H. Pylori agents
Amoxicillin, tetracycline, clarithromycin, metronidazole
