Witness
Sitting in their own stand near the judge
Role: To give evidence about what they have seen or know about a crime. They must swear to tell the truth.
Judge or Magistrate
Sitting at the top stand.
Role: Applies law to cases to ensure everyone that comes into court is given a fair trial.
Jurors
Sitting in the jury box facing perpendicular to everyone.
Role: To listen to evidence and deliver a final verdict.
Defendant
Other side of the courtroom from the Plaintiff’s Table.
Role: The defendant is the person being accused and might answer questions.
Bailiff
Near the judge
Role: To maintain order in the court and ensure the processes run smoothly.
Arrest definition
Seize someone by legal authority and take them into custody
Bail Definition
The temporary release of someone awaiting trial, usually with money.

A legal document that gives police the power to allow them to do their job.
Warrant Definition
