Q

What is the procedure for Anterior Innominate Test?

A

Patient places unaffected foot 2-3 feet forward, then flexes at the waist as far as they can go. If rear foot remains flat, take a further step and try again.

We are trying to torque the pelvis to its maximum. Once the rear foot lifts off the ground, we have reached maximum torque.

Q

What is the procedure for the Belt Test?

A

Patient bends forward to touch their toes - note pain. Doctor then braces patient’s hips with hands and places their own hip snugly against patient’s sacrum and then tells patient to bend forward again - note pain.

Q

What is the purpose/positive findings of the Belt Test?

A

To assess pain in hip and lumbar flexion.

Pain during 1st part of test but not in 2nd part: SI joint problem

Pain during 1st and 2nd part of test (at same or lesser degree of flexion): Lumbar problem

Q

What is the procedure for Erichsen’s Test?

A

Patient lies prone, Doctor compresses SI joints laterally and with pressure over PSIS (using thenars/thumbs). This is creating a “double IN” Ilium.

Q

What is the procedure for Gaenslen’s Test?

A

Patient lies supine while doctor stands on side being tested and brings unaffected knee up towards patient’s chest. Doctor then slowly hyper-extends the affected leg.

Q

What is the purpose of the Iliac Compression Test?

A

Check for sprain of Posterior SI ligament
SI joint inflammation
Subluxation

17
Q

What is the procedure for Iliac Compression Test?

A

Patient lies on unaffected side. Doctor compresses Iliac Crest on affected side toward table, creating a “double EX”

18
Q

What is the procedure for Lewin Gaenslen Test?

A

Patient lies on unaffected side and brings their unaffected knee toward their chest. Doctor slowly hyper-extends the affected thigh.

19
Q

What is the purpose of Lewin Gaenslen test? Findings?

A

Checking for SI joint sprain/strain

Findings = SI pain on affected side; muscle tightness

20
Q

What is the purpose of Yeoman’s Test?

A

Looking for:
SI joint lesion of anterior SI ligaments
Femoral Nerve irritation
Iliopsoas or Rectus Femoris muscle contraction

21
Q

What is the procedure and findings for Yeoman’s Test?

A

Patient is prone. Doctor stands opposite side being tested and applies pressure to sacrum with one hand, places other hand under affected knee and lifts knee off table (extending the thigh)

+ findings = pain in SI joint; muscle tightness
