Cause?
A
Ascending infection from endocervix, commonly from chlamydia, gonorrhoea, or mycoplasma.

Symptoms?
A
Abdominal pain, fever, discharge, menstrual changes, dyspareunia, dysuria.

Tests?
A
Rule out pregnancy, high vaginal swab and STI screen

Q
Management?
A
Oral ofloxacin and oral metronidazole
OR
IM ceftriaxone, oral doxycycline and oral metronidazole

Q
Complications?
A
Perihepatitis (sharp RUQ pain often misdiagnosed as cholecystitis), infertility, chronic pain, future ectopic pregnancy.
