The structures are villi. Nutrient molecules pass into cells on the surface of a villus and from there into blood vessels. The villi provide a large surface area for absorption.

A

Duodenum of the small intestines. The pancreas produces enzymes that aid in chemical digestion. Without those enzymes, chemical digestion could not be completed, so the small intestine would be unable to absorb small nutrient molecules into the bloodstream.
