Fluid replacement in peds
A
Maintenance fluids: 4/2/1 rule proposed by Holliday and Seger
4cc/kg/hr for first 10 kg
+ 2cc/kg/hr for next 10 kg
+ 1cc/kg/hr for next 10 kg
Additional repletion for insensible losses based on severity of surgical procedure:
- mildly traumatic 2-6cc/kg/hr
- moderately traumatic 4-8 cc/kg/hr
- severely traumatic 6-10 cc/kg/hr

Tetralogy of Fallot
A
Cyanotic heart defect characterized by four major anomalies: pulmonic stenosis, VSD, overriding aorta, and right ventricular hypertrophy.
Blood is shunted from the right side of the heart to the left.
