Delirium
A temporary mental state characterized by confusion, anxiety, incoherent speech, and hallucinations.
Depression
A mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness or loss of interest.
Incontinent
Involuntary loss of urine.
Isolation
The state of being in a place or situation that is separate from others.
Clean Utility Room
A room used to store clean patient items, linens, sterile supplies etc.
Dirty Utility Room
A room where patient equipment and supplies are kept after use.
Crash Cart
A rolling cart which contains medication and equipment needed for use for critically ill patients.
Puberty
Is the process of physical changes through which a child’s body matures into an adult body capable of sexual reproduction.
Croup
A covering or shelter over the head and shoulders within which a stream of vapor (sometimes medicated) is maintained for the relief of some respiratory conditions.
Mongolian Spots
Also known as Mongolian Blue Spot, congenital dermal melanocytosis, and dermal melanocytosis is a benign, flat, congenital birthmark with wavy borders and irregulars.
Learning Disability
A condition in the brain that causes difficulties comprehending or processing information in a typical manner.
Pediatrician
Medical Specialist who treats children 16 years of age and under.
Child Life Specialist
Are pediatric health care professionals who work with children and families in hospital and other settings to help them cope with the challenges of hospitalization, illness, and disability.
Immunizations (Vaccinations)
Safely and effectively use a small amount of a weakened or killed virus or bacteria or bits of lab made protein that imitate the virus in order to prevent infection by the same virus or bacteria.
Food Allergy/ Intolerance
A food intolerance and food allergy are often mistaken for each other. However, while a food intolerance can cause discomfort a food allergy can be very severe as it causes an immune system reaction.
