Definition of PED
PED measures the responsiveness of demand after a price change
PED formula
% change in qty. demanded / % change in price
Elastic demand
PED < -1
A change in price causes a more than proportionate change in qty. demanded.
Inelastic Demand
PED > -1 but < 0
A change in price causes a less than proportionate change in qty. demanded.
Unitary elastic demand
PED = -1
Perfectly inelastic demand
PED = 0
Change in price causes no change in qty. demanded
Perfectly elastic demand
PED = ∞
Change in price cause NO demand at all
