Pectoral Region Flashcards

1
Q

Attachments of each art of the deltoid:
Clavicular
Acromial
Spinal

A

Clavicular originates for the lateral one third of the clavice
Acromial orginates from the acromion
Spinal part orginates from the scapular spine

All attach to the deltoid tuberosity of the humerus

11
Q

What is the action of the pectoralis major?

A

All three parts act to adduct and internally rotate the arm at the shoulder.
The clavicular and sternocostal part act to flex the arm at the shoulder and assist in respiration when the shoulder is fixed.

14
Q

How can you tell the difference between the medial and lateral pectoral nerves?

A

Medial pectoral nerve pierces both pec major and pec minor. Lateral pectoral nerve does not.

15
Q

What is the action of pectoralis minor?

A

Acts to draw the scapula downward, causing the inferior angle to move posteriomedially. Also acts to rotate the glenoid inferiorly and assist in respiration.

16
Q

The axially artery branches into three parts. Where is the first part located and what is its one branch?

A

Extends from the lateral edge of the first rib to the medial border of the muscle.
The branch is the superior thoracic artery

17
Q

The axially artery branches into three parts. Where is the second part located and what are its two branches?

A

Lies under the pec minor

Its two branches are the thoracoacromial artery and the lateral thoracic artery.

18
Q

The axially artery branches into three parts. Where is the third part located and what are its three branches?

A

Extends from the lateral margin of the muscle down to where the artery crosses the tendon of the teres major.
Its branches are the anterior and posterior circumflex humeral arteries and the subscapular artery.

19
Q

Where does the coracobrachialis attach?

A

Coracoid process of the scapula and crest of lesser tuberosity of the humerus

20
Q

Where does the subclavius muscle attach?

A

First rib and interior surface of the clavicle

21
Q

What innervates the coracobrachialis?

A

Musculocutaneous nerve

22
Q

What innervates the subclavius muscle?

A

Subclavian nerve

23
Q

Where does the supraspinatus attach?

A

Supraspinous fossa of the scapula and greater tuberosity of the humerus

24
Q

What innervates the supraspinatus?

A

Suprascapular nerve

25
Q

Where does the infraspinatus attach?

A

Infraspinous fossa of the scapula and the greater tuberosity of the humerus

26
Q

What innervates the supraspinatus?

A

Suprascapular nerve

27
Q
