what was Wilson’s aims with the treaty of Versailles?
his aims were to create ‘far and lasting peace’ and to implement the Fourteen Points which was Wilsons idea to create peace in Europe. this included disarmament for all European nations, no secret treaties and a League of Nations.
what was Clemenceau’s aims
his aims were to cripple Germany economically and territorially this was to make sure France’s borders were safe and that Germany would be unable to attack them. Clemenceau also demanded that Germany took the blame for the war and that Germany should pay their reoperations.
Lloyd George
Britain was in the middle between America and France. Georges aims were to punish Germany but not to harshly. He wanted Britain and Germany to be trading partners but Germany had to lose its naval power and colonies.

The league of nations was setup in 1920 to enforce the treaty and keep international peace. Germany was not allowed to join until 1926

100m paid to allies, 20k army cap, land lost to Yugoslavia, Romania and Greece. Forced to accept responsibility with other Central powers.

to weak to pay reparation’s instead paid in raw materials. 35k army cap (no navy). forced to separate from Austria. lost land to Romania Slovenia Croatia and Czechoslovakia. forced to accept blame for the war along with the central powers.

financially controlled by the allies. 50k army cap. empire broken up. forced to accept blame for the war.
What did the Treaty of Lausanne entail ? (1923) (Turkey)
no war reparation’s. restrictions on army were revoked. Treaty of Lausanne returned some of the European land to turkey in 1923 but land in the middle east was lost.
what is a Diktat ?
Term used in Germany to describe the treaty of Versailles because Germany had no say in the terms of the treaty.
what is Anschluss ?
Joining of Austria and Germany as one state - forbidden by the treaty of Versailles 1919 but carried out by Hitler in 1938.
