What is continuous training?
Aerobic exercising at a moderate to high level, with no rest
What is weight training?
It involves lifting weights to increase the strength of muscles, using repetition and sets
What is plyometric training?
Exercises when muscles use maximum force in short intervals of time
What is Fartlek training?
A method of training for runners where the terrain and speed are contantly changing
What is interval training?
It involves alternating stages of high and low intensity activity
What is circuit training?
Is a series of exercises, completed for a certain amount of time, one after another
What is agility?
Ability to control the movement of the whole body and change position quickly.
What is balance?
Keep the body stable, while at rest or in motion.
What is body composition?
Percentage of body that is muscle, fat or bone.
What is cardiovascular endurance?
Ability to exercise the whole body for long periods of time.
What is coordination?
Ability to use two or more body parts together.
What is flexibility?
Range of motion of your joints.
What is power?
Ability to undertake strength performances quickly.
What is speed?
Rate of which an individual can cover a movement or v range of distance.
What is reaction time?
Time between the presentation of a stimulus and the onset of a movement.
What is muscular endurance?
Ability to use voluntary muscles many times without getting tired.
What is strength?
Amount of force a muscle can exert against a resistance.
What is reversability?
Gradually losing fitness instead of progressing or remaining at the current level.
What is progressive overload?
Gradually increasing the amount of work to improve fitness.
What is individual needs?
Taking into account someone’s aims and current levels of fitness
What is specificity?
The particular requirements of an activity.
What is FITT?
Training principle based on frequency, intensity, time and type.
What is overtraining?
Training beyond your body’s ability to recover.
