12
Q

explanation of muscles working together when running?

A

Muscles are attached to bones by tendons. When running the knee must flex and straighten. The hamstring and quadriceps must work together(antagonistic pairs) to create movement. When the hamstrings contract(prime mover) the quadriceps must relax(antagonist) to allow flexion at the knee

vitamins minerlas: will boost immune system/help him grow and function correctly
IRON can help transport oxygen around the body
Minerals (calcium) help strengthen bones

23
Q

How may water fluids be useful for james?

A

will prevent dehydration/ can maintain performance when training, replacing fluids lost through urination perspiration and respiration

Q

risk? how can it be minimized?

A

exposure to danger injury or harm/ having the correct equipment and by completing a warm up

25
Q

challenge?

A

test of you skills and ability when in a different setting?

26
Q

When will aerobic system be used? equation?

A

during five mile run this will be main source to provide energy for working muscles.
glucose + oxygen –> energy + carbon dioxide + water

27
Q

What is FARTLEK training?

A

training that involves changing the terrain and pace without stopping

28
Q

Short term effects James will experience?

A
  • increase heart rate
  • increase sweat production
  • increase blood flow
  • increase body temp
29
Q

what can anorexia nervosa damage in the body?

A

internal organs

30
Q

How may james experince fatigue when running?

A

not pacing himself and runs too fast

31
Q

How may NHSP emotioanl well being theme benifit someone?

A

it will have rewards and behaviour policy and offer support through mentoring and anti bullying sessions. School also have a responsibility to provide school activites to build up self esteem.

32
Q

equation for anaerobic respiration?

A

glucose —> energy + lactic acid

33
Q

what are the differences between male and females?

maturity levels
physique
metabolism
hormonal differneces

34
Q

intrinsic rewards?

A

improving your health

35
Q

what is the YST and what are the 3 principles they aim for students?

A

National charity that aims to develop high quality PE and school sport. The 3 principles for students are:

  • improves his COF(stamina)
  • improve sleeping pattern
  • less risk of depression
39
Q

What does the skeleton provide and give examples

A

protection-major organs
blood production-red blood cells produced in bone marrow of flat bones
shape-james bones will determain his body shape
support- hold position of vital organs
movement-muscles connected to bones by tendons which allow movement at a joint

40
Q

What is the national healthy schools programme healthy eating theme and what does it provide?

A

School should offer healthy and nutritious meals throughout the day. they should encourage the healthy option and stop kids from going to the chippy which would then improve their diet

41
Q

What do NHSP encourage physical wise?

A

remove and barriers and encourage the participation in physical activity. James should have access to minimum of 2 hours a work of physical activity and a variety of extra curricular activities.

42
Q

Why may obesity be bad for james during his 5 mile run?

A

may lead to joint problems and injury and may also have major life affects like diabetes.

43
Q

What factors will affect James during his five mile run

A
age
gender
weather
risk
activity levels
training
44
Q

How could james apply overload during training?

A
  • increase distance running
  • shorter rest periods

52
Q

What does carb loading do and how does it work?

A

Increases glycogen stores in the muscle and liver. This will break down into glucose and will be the main source of energy for a long distance run.

Carbs may be stuff like pasta, bread cereal.

By carb loading performers are able to run faster for longer
