A type of dance or a partner dance, which is enjoyed socially and competitively because of its enterainment aspect. This dance is intended primarily to get to know other people in a social function.

Essential Components of Dancing
Movement , Music , Formation and Position
Place Both arms in front of the chest in circular position with the heels ot the feet together and the toes 45 degrees apart.
First Position
Place both arms sideward with the palm facing upward and stride the feet sideward.
Second Position
Place one arm on your side at shoulder level and raise the other hand overhead with the heel of the foot placed beside the in-step of the other foot.
Third Position
Place one arm in front of the chest level with elbow slightly bent and the other arm is raised overhead with one foot placed in front of the other foot
Fourth Position
Raise both hands overhead with the elbows sightly bent. The heel ofthe loot is placed in front of tha toe ef the rear toot
Fifth Position
Originated from Cuba, Inspired from a slow version of mambo or mambo with gutro, consists of triple steps and rock steps, first introduced in 1952, Britain and was written in 4/4 time signature
Cha-cha
Originated from Brazil during the 19th century, derived from the Angolan term “semba” which means “invitation to dance”. It is danced to 274 different types of rhythms.
Samba
Comes from the word “rumbear”, which means “going to parties, dancing, and having a good time”. The rhythms were originally from African music, and its development took place in Cuba. It is danced in a 4/4 time signature.
Rumba
Portrays Spanish bullfight. The male represents the matador, and the female represents the matador’s cape. Paso doble is translated from “double step”. This dance was also known as “the dance of the master” and was danced in 2/4 time signature.
Paso Doble
Was influenced by dances such as boogie-woogie, jitterbug, and swing. It features fast, upbeat steps and is danced in 2/4 time signature.
