Pavements and footpaths
Should be used at all times. Avoid being next to the kerb and back facing traffic. Remain aware of
No pavement
Keep to the right hand side of the road. Walk in a single file. Face traffic.
Help other road users see you
Wear or carry something light coloured of fluorescent in poor day light.
Night time use armbands and waistcoats which can be seen three times as far as non reflective items
Young children
Not be alone on the pavement or road. Hold hands which child.
Organised walks
Should use pavement if available if not should keep to the left.
Lookouts at the front and back and should wear fluorescent materials.
Motorways
NO pedestrians allowed to walk there except in an emergency
Green cross code
Find a safe place to cross
Stop just before you get to the kerb
Look for traffic and listen
If traffic is coming let it pass
Walk across road when it’s safe NO RUNNING
