PDEs Flashcards
1
Q
What is the difference between PDEs and ODEs?
A
ODEs are functions of one variable.
PDEs are functions of two or more variables.
2
Q
When you differentiate a series, what happens to the index of the series?
A
Increases by 1 for Method 1.
Remains the same for Method 2.
3
Q
What conditions must be met to add two or more series together?
A
Same indices and same starting powers
4
Q
What defines an even function?
A
f(x) = f(-x);
Symmetric reflection over the y-axis
5
Q
What defines an odd function
A
f(x) = -f(-x); OR -f(x) = f(-x)
Symmetric reflection over the y-axis, then the x-axis
