Validity of PC
2 years from date of issue (1 Jan/odd year - 31 Dec/even year)

What are the restrictions for the types of PC?
Active: full-time, part-time or locum pharmacy practice
Inactive: cannot practice pharmacy
When will the PC be issued?
- Fulfill CPE point requirements
- Payment of prescribed fees
- Surrendered within 14 days of suspension or cancellation of registration
CPE requirements for PC renewal
Active: 50 points in 2 years preceding qualifying period
- 30% from pharmaceutical care or specialty branch (specialists)
- Prorated for registration period
Inactive: 20 points in 2 years preceding
Name was removed, applying for grant of PC: 25 points in 12 months
- 30% from pharmaceutical care
What is the qualifying period (QP)?
01/09/odd year to 31/08/even year
Criteria for removal from register
- Ordered to be removed under provision of PRA
- deceased
- did not renew PC for a continuous period of not less than 5 yrs
- obtained registration by a fraudulent or an incorrect statement or through an error
- registration withdrawn, suspended or cancelled by authority in another country
How to restore name after not renewing PC for more than 5 years?
- pass SPC examinations
- fulfill CPE requirements (25 points in 12 months, min 8 points pharmaceutical care)
- support of certificate of good standing in last country of practice (if applicable)
- certified by medical practitioner that fit to practice (if stopped due to health reasons)
Who comprises the (Pharmacy) Specialists Accreditation Board (PSAB)?
- not less than 6 registered pharmacists
- Chairman and members appointed by Minister
- up to 3-year term, eligible for re-appointment
- may appoint committees to assist in its functions
What are the functions of the chairman of PSAB?
Preside over board meetings (quorum of 3 board members), casting vote in equality of votes

- Determine qualifications, experience & conditions for specialist registration
- Define specialties in pharmacy practice
- Accredit training programmes
- Certify persons with qualifications for specialist registration
- Recommend to SPC programmes for specialist CPE

What are the requirements for specialist registration?
- Additional qualification: recognised postgraduate qualification
- Valid specialty certification
- Full-time Residency: 1 year in broad-based pharmacotherapy, 1 year in specialty
- Specialty practice experience: 1 year (after residency) within 3 years preceding application
Process of specialist registration
- Pharmacist submit application form with required documents to PSAB then SPC
- Specialist accreditation: PSAB issues certificate of eligibility for specialist registration
- Specialist registration: SPC register applicant in Register of Specialists, issues specialist certificate of registration & practising certificate
