PC Channel Flashcards
Pathway of PC channel
Originates from chest → enters PC → descends thru diaphragm to abdomen, connects 3 jiaos
Branch: runs inside chest, emerges from costal region at a point 3 cun below anterior axillary fold → ascends to axilla → follows medial aspect of upper arm → runs downward b/t LU and HT meridians to cubital fossa → runs between tendons m. palmaris longus and m. flexor carpi radialis → palm → tip of middle finger
2nd Branch: arises from pal at PC 8 → runs along ting finger to tip → links w SJ channel at SJ
Pathway of PC divergent channel
Separates from PC channel 3 cun below axilla → communicates w 3 jiaos; branch ascends across throat, emerges behind ear, then converges w SJ channel
Pathway of PC Luo-Connecting Channel
PC 6 → runs along PC primary channel → PC organ → connects w/HT organ
PC Excess signs
chest pain
PC Deficiency signs
irritability, stiffness and pain of the head and neck, occipital neck pain
PC Sinew Channel
Palmar aspect of middle finger → follows muscle region of LU channel upward → knots at medial aspect of elbow → knots at axilla → descends and disperses front and back sides of ribs; Branch: enters chest below axilla and spreads over chest, knots in thoracic diaphragm
Pathological symptoms of PC sinew channel
straining and cramping sensation along channel, pain of chest w urgent breathing, inverted cup sensation below lower right ribs
PC channel indications
- disorders of HT organ (pain, palpitations, irregular HT beat)
- disorders of the spirit
- disorders of the chest (HT, LU, etc)
- disorder of the upper or middle jiao due to LV channel qi stagnation
- disorders of the middle jiao, esp. ST
- disorders of the lateral costal region
