Definition Of Pacifism
Being opposed to violence and believing that it is wrong.
Retribution
Performing the same act on a criminal as they did to their victim.
Protection
Taking action against criminals to prevent harm of civilians.
Deterrence
A punishment that is put in place in order to detract society from comitting crime.
Reparation
The criminal is made to make amends and repays the victim or society back for what they have done
Absolute Pacifism
That in no cases is violence the answer, also won’t contribute at all to violence, e.g wouldn’t aid a war.
Conditional Pacifism
Believes that violence is wrong but will aid warfare without directionaly hurting a person.
Just War Theory
The theory which any person follows regarding going to war and how that war can be justified
Holy War
A war that a religious person may fight in order to convert people.
Rule of Just War (Who from)
Proper Authority - Legitimate authority or ruler
Rule of Just War (Why is it being done)
Must Be a just cause - Country must have done something to deserve it
Rule of Just War (Aim)
Just Intention - Must Promote Just good not evil
Rule of Just War (Tried everything)
Last Resort - Other ways to resolve the conflict have been tried.
Rule of Just War (No harm done)
No civilians should be harmed,
Rule of Just War (Finish)
The war must end as soon as possible
