- Name Pauline letters:
Romans, 1 & 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon
- State the purpose for each of Paul’s letter’s
Romans: Argue that Jews and Gentiles are equal in Christ
1st Corinthians: To address a series of problems and answer a series of questions
2nd Corinthians: To encourage forgiveness and defend Paul’s apostleship
Galatians: Defend Paul’s writing, to warn against work based salvation, and teach a faith based salvation.
Ephesians: To explain the eternal purposes of God in Jesus
Philippians: To express gratitude and encouragement
Colossians: To address Colossian syncretism (Heresy)
Thessalonians: Express joy over the church’s faithfulness, encourage the pursuit of sanctification, and questions about Jesus’s appearing.
2nd Thessalonians: To clarify misunderstanding about the timing of church.
1 Timothy: to instruct timothy how to instruct the church to focus on what they should be doing.
2nd Timothy: To encourage Timothy to continue his ministry after Paul is gone and to pass it on to others.
Philemon: To encourage Philemon to accept Onesimus as a brother

- Is OK to marry? (Yes!)
- Should we divorce? (Don’t divorce)
- Should we stay married but abstain from sexual intimacy? (No)
- If we were married but not now (spouse died or divorced), can we remarry? (yes, but only a believer)
- Should we try to get our freedom? (It really doesn’t matter to God)
- Can we eat meat offered to idols? (eat it in good conscience)
- What if others are “offended” by our eating of meat offered to idols? (Don’t serve it)
- Should we pay teachers (apostles)? (Ministers deserve to be paid)
- Should women cover their heads in worship? (The church does not teach any customs about this)
- Which spiritual gift is the best or most important? (ALL are useful and necessary)
- Is the “resurrection” real or a metaphor? (The resurrection of Jesus was real, not a metaphor – otherwise, our faith would be useless)
- If real, how does it work? – (Resurrection is a change of nature)
