Patterns Flashcards
What are the steps of a touch and go?
Aft stick pressure
Rudder for centerline
Flaps T/O
Apply full throttle
At what altitude must a forward slip be discontinued?
50’ AGL
What are the steps for a Go-Around?
Full throttle
Pitch up
Once descent has stopped: flaps T/O
Climb 66 KIAS until 400’ below TPA
What are the steps for a Go-Around with flaps CRUISE?
Full throttle
Pitch up
Once descent has stopped: flaps T/O (not required if airspeed is at 70 KIAS when the go-around is initiated)
Climb until 400’ below TPA
In a no flap approach and landing, when do you move your throttle to idle?
At lease 2000’ abeam the approach end of the runway
What is your target airspeed for a no flap landing?
65 KIAS
What bank angle should your perch turn be?
10-30 degrees
What is your target final approach intercept distance from the runway landing threshold?
1/2 - 1/4 mile
For a no flap landing, when should you touchdown on the runway?
Within 1500’ of the runway
For a no flap landing, what should your speed be when you touch down on the runway?
55 KIAS
When must your descent/approach checklist be accomplished?
5 NM from the airfield
For a normal landing, where is the aim point on the runway?
The threshold
Numbers at Fowler
When do you round out and flare on a landing?
10-15’ AGL
Where should you land on the runway in a normal landing?
First 1000’ of the runway
What should your airspeed be when you touch down in a normal landing?
~45 KIAS
During a no flap landing, how much altitude should you attempt to lose in the downwind before the bast turn after pulling the throttle aft?
300’
If you need to cool the engine in a climb, how do you maximize this?
Full throttle; maximize forward speed
(A 100 KIAS climb will cool the engine faster than an 85 KIAS climb)
(The engine is air cooled.)
Describe the steps for a no flap approach/landing
State “no flap” when doing closed turn. “Tiger 67, closed, runway 22, no flap approach”
- In downwind: fuel pump on, mixture full rich
- Throttle to area idle at least 2000’ abeam approach end of runway
- Decelerate to 65 KIAS
“Airspeed 65 Knots, flaps cruise, confirm?” - Lose 200-300 feet while in downwind
- Perch for base turn
- Touchdown within 1500’ of runway
When do you accomplish the climb checklist?
400’ below traffic pattern altitude
