What are the 6 phases of a domestic?

A

What is the notification phase?

A

BDOC will get as much information as possible such as privately owned weapons, medical attention?, altercation still in process?, relationship and if there are in kids in the house.

What is the response phase?

A

Minimum of 2 patrolman will respond, note any vehicle departing the immediate area just in case they fled. Prior to knocking listen for 10-30 seconds. If they don’t let you in tell them you are leaving until you are allowed in but never open the door or shout an invitation

What is entry phase?

A

If subject is not in view ask for their whereabouts, also ask about weapons and if anybody needs medical. All household members should be identified and kept as witnesses.

What is the initial contact phase?

A

Separating them visually, as well as physically. Avoid putting them in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Look for any apparent weapons, if found 52 it.

A

Question witnesses, taking written statements. Check for fresh bruises or cuts. If serious OSI or S2 will come out and we will 1109 for everybody walking in and out. A 2701 will be issued.

What is apprehension phase?

A

In instances involving violence and they will be escorted back to 35, 1805 will be issued to civilian, family advocacy will be contacted along with mental health if there are having issues.
