Obligations of work site parties
-Employers must ensure workers are not subject to or participate in harassment or violence at the work site
-Supervisors must ensure workers under their supervisions are not subject to harassment or violence at the work site
-workers must refrain from causing or participating in harassment or violence
Workplace safety
- Document that identifies situations that could put workers at risk
- One of those risks is harassment or violence in the workplace
- Identification of hazards allows employers to take steps to eliminate or control them and prevent
harm to workers
Prevention Plans must…
- include a prevention policy and prevention procedures
- be in writing and readily available for reference by workers at the work site, either in
paper or electronic formats - be reviewed every 3 years or more often if there is an incident of harassment or violence
or if the health and safety committee or representative requests a review
Employers must instruct workers on..
- the hazard of workplace harassment and violence
- how to recognize the signs of danger
- what to do about it
- how to report it
Investigating and reporting incidents
Employees must
- investigate any incident of harassment or violence
- take action to address the incident
- prevent it from happening again
- prepare an investigation report outlining the circumstances of the
incident and the corrective action
Worker support
Employers must offer support to workers who are affected by an incident of harassment or violence in the workplace.
-Affected workers should be advised to consult a health professional for treatment or referral.
-Employers cannot make any deductions from the workers wages and benefits if the treatment sessions occurring during regular work hours.
Infection control ; Hand hygiene
These products need to be at least 60% alcohol to be effective, so check the label.
* Alcohol-based hand rubs do not cause antibiotic resistance.
* Alcohol-based hand rubs kill many bacteria and viruses but are not effective against some of the germs that cause diarrhea.
* Alcohol-based hand rubs are quick to use. They are especially convenient when soap and water are not available.
* Alcohol-based hand rubs don’t work if your hands are greasy or visibly dirty. These products don’t clean your hands and are not a substitute for handwashing. If your hands are visibly soiled, it is best to use soap and water.
* If it’s not possible to wash with soap and water, use towelettes to remove the soil, then use an alcohol-based hand rub.
