Pathwaus Througgh Plant Flashcards
What is the APOPLAST way
Passgwe of water through nonliving pets of cell eg via cell wall
Symplast pathway
Movement. Of water through LIVING parts of cell eg cytoplasm to cytoplasm the via plasmodesmata
What happens as water evaporates into air spaces form cytoplasm
Lowers osmotic potential of cell (more negative) water will then be drawn from neighbouring cells (less negative and wp) via plasmodesmata
Where are these pathways used
Root and leaf
How will more water be transported
In apoplast pathway cuz less resistance as. I cytoplasm I’m dead cells
How do endodermis cells ensure water entering stele does so via symplast
EnDodermis cells are impregnated with Suberin (called casparian strip)
It is water period therefore water forced symplast pathway THROUGH PLASMAMEMBRANE
