What is Karma Yoga?
Selfless/ good actions
It is a central practice of ISKCON- all actions devoted to Krishna: Krishna believes that wisdom cannot be gained by avoiding answers but that every action must be selfless & seen as service to the divine.
Liberation: going to the Heavenly realm of Bhagavan (Krishna/Vishnu)
What are the benefits of Karma Yoga?
- Allows dharma to be fulfilled
- Allows society to function
- Easy as good actions can be performed easily
What are the criticisms of Karma Yoga?
- Difficult for many to carry out their duty selflessly as they’re focusing on the material world/family etc
What is Hatha Yoga?
Asana - physical positions/postures. dates back to Indus valley . easy flow of ‘prana’ around the body & prepare for physical effort
Pranayama - breath control/conscious awareness of breathing, slow deep breathing=calming, rapid breathing=anger/extreme emotion
