A blood born disease that is transmitted through contact with blood and other bodily fluids that are contaminated with this virus. A vaccine is available to provide immunity against it
HBV (Hepatitis B virus)
A blood born disease that is spread through contact with blood and other bodily fluids that are contaminated with this virus. ___ is described as a silent epidemic b/c it can be present in the body for years and destroy the liver before any symptoms appear. There is no vaccine available to prevent this form of hepatitis
HCV (Hepatitis C virus)
- Chronic degenerative disease of the liver characterized by scarring
- often caused by excessive alcohol abuse
