Abrasion
A
-a large break or
erosion of the superficial layer of
the cornea.
-First 24 hours epithelial cells migrate to fill exposed area
-After filled new epithelial cells are regenerated

How to view Abrasion
A
This is easily viewed with the application
of fluorescein and the use of the
blue cobalt and yellow Wratten
filters.

Signs of Abrasion
A
-Deeper abrasions result in discomfort (foreign body sensation), pain and/or photophobia
-Break in epithelial layer
-Fluorescein staining
