Pathogens are microorganisms which cause disease.

A
- Viruses damage host cells by entering, reproducing and leaving (cells burst).
- Bacteria produce and release toxins which damage host cells.

- Contaminated food/water
- Air borne
- Sexual intercourse
- Blood to blood contact

Antigens are molecules that cause an immune response.

- in the cell membrane of pathogens
- on the surface of viruses
