homogeneous, smooth

Types of splenic congestion
- Acute
- Chronic
most common cause of splenic congestions
cirrhosis of the liver
portal vein hypertension/thrombosis
other cause of splenic congestion
sickle cell crisis
cystic fibrosis
heart failure

What is Amyloidosis?
2 types - nodular and diffuse
nodular: walls of arteries
diffues: actual red pulp/splenic tissue. Presents with splenomegaly
What is Gaucher’s Disease
50% patients are younger than 8 years of age
bone pain and skin pigmentation
splenomegaly, heterogeneous, well-defined hypoechoic lesions
