How soon does the patent application need to be filed?

1. Each country’s patent laws impose strict rule on when application must be filed.
2. patent drafter must gather the following facts:
   - what territory/-ies does the client want to protect their invention?
   - has something already happened that might impair the client’s ability to protect their invention in the territory/-ies?
   - how soon does client intend to do something that might jeopardize their ability to protect then invention in the territory/-ies?

• In the case of several inventors
• position one as contact inventor or interlocutor –> someone who knows the most details of the invention, who can deal with and collect info from the rest of the inventors and who has the time to cooperate effectively with the drafter.
