What the meaning of passover?

A

The Israelites were slaves to the Egyptians under their Pharaoh. Moses, the Hebrew leader, failed to persuade Pharoah to free his people. So God sent ten plagues on Egypt, the last was death of firstborn son’s. Moses warned his people to sacrifice a young lamb and rub the blood around the doorframe so the angel of death would ‘passover,’ which it did. He also told them to prepare to leaving.

How do Jews celebrate the passover?

A

Since the Jews entered their promised land, they have celebrated by gathering together with family and friends to share a meal called Seder

What is eaten from the seder plate and what does it remind them of.

A
  1. Salty water with parsley.
    The tears of their suffering.
  2. Red wine
    The lambs blood.
  3. Matzah, a flatbread with no yeast
    Leaving quickly, no time to wait for bread to rise.
  4. charoset, mixed apple nuts & spice
    summent for building pyramids.
