Q

What is active transport?

A

-requires an energy source. As a result, it usually moves substances from low to high concentrations there are three main types of active transport.

Q

What do the kidneys do?

A
  • Bean shaped organs that filter your blood
  • wastes and extra water become urine, which flows to the bladder through tubes call ureters
  • if wastes aren’t released, you could get bladder infections / damage to the body (if wastes weren’t filtered and stayed in your blood)

Q

What is hemodialysis?

A
  • a machine used to filter blood when a kidney fails
  • blood flows through a special filter that removes wastes and extra fluids & the clean blood is returned to your body
  • controls blood pressure and keeps proper balance of chemicals in your body like potassium and sodium
