Class A
doors are permitted to remain open during navigation. If a watertight door is found closed, it may automatically close after being opened manually, so extra care must be taken
Class B
doors may be opened during navigation when necessary for work in the immediate vicinity of the door. The door must be immediately closed when that work is finished.
Class C
doors may be opened during navigation to permit the passage through the door. The doors must be immediately closed when transit through the door is done
Class D
doors must always be kept closed during navigation
