Use Passé Composé
A
- tell duratio of an event or number of times it occured in the past.
- reaction or change in condition or state of mind.
- to indicate the beginning or end of a past action.

A
- past actions without reference beginning or end.
- habitual actions in the past
- describe conditions, or what things were like in the past.

Passé Composé & imparfait used together
A
imparfait describes what was happening, while the passé composé tells the actions that occurred or interrupted the ongoing activity.

Construct l’imparfait
A
- take the Nous form of any present tense verb. (drop -ons of the verb)
- replace it with. je ais, tu ais, il/elle ait,
nous ions, vous iez and ils/elles aient

exceptions of l’imarfait
A
- verbs that end in -ger, add an (e) before all ending of imparfait. Except in Nous & Vous form.
- Verbs whose infinitives and in -cer, change c to ç before all imparfait endings. Except in Nous & Vous forms.
