if it is beside an a, you need to add an e beside the g

When do you use the imparfait?
- secondary facts to give context and more detail
- description of ongoing or habitual past actions (what was happening or what used to be)
- states of being, attitudes, appearances
- past actions that are interrupted
- *être is almost always imparfait
