How do you form the p.c.?
- form the first half by conjugating avoir with the subject
2. add the p.c. version of the verb. For regular verbs: er= é, ir= i, re= u

How do you form the imparfait?
- figure out what the verb is conjugated with nous in the resent
- drop the ons ending
- add the proper ending: je-ais tu-ais il-ait nous-ions vous-iez ils-aient
What happens to ir verbs in the imparfait?
they need to keep the iss endings with the root
What happens with etre in the imparfait?
je étais tu étais il était nous étions vous étiez ils étaient
What happens to ger verbs in the imparfait?
if it is beside an a, you need to add an e beside the g
What happens to cer verbs in the imparfait?
if it is beside an a, the c becomes ç
What happens to irregualr present tense verbs?
Nothing- they follow the sae steps
When do you use the p.c.?
- for past actions and events that happened once and are over
- helps narration move along
- are the main facts
- used in an interruption of an ongoing past action
- non-habitual events
- series of completed evensts

When do you use the imparfait?
- secondary facts to give context and more detail
- description of ongoing or habitual past actions (what was happening or what used to be)
- states of being, attitude or appearences
- past actions that are interrupted
- etre is almost always imparfait
