Subjects & verbs
In any correct sentence in English, you’ll find a subject & verb
Sentence
A group of words that expresses a complete thought and includes a subject and a verb
Subject
The who or what the sentence is about. A noun or pronoun, or sometimes a noun clause
Compound subject
When more than one noun or pronoun serves as a subject
Phrase
A phrase makes up one small part of a sentence. They don’t have to have subjects and verbs, and they don’t need to express a full thought
Clauses
Independent - can stand alone as a sentence
Dependent - cannot stand on its own as a sentence

A coordinatimg conjunction connects two independent clauses. FANBOYS - for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so
Prepositional phrase
Most common kind of phrase. Sets up more info for incoming sentence - “for as long as I can remember,” “without knowing why..” etc.
