takes the place of a noun= they, him, she.
conjunctions
brings words, phrases, or clauses together= for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so.
interjections
show strong emotion= hey! stop! yay!
preposition
tells the time or position of something= on, above, around, during.
common nouns
not capitalized and not specific= ball, desk, store.
proper nouns
capitalized and specific= Ms. Dulaney, Walmart, Nike.
abstract nouns
a noun that you can’t see, touch, taste, hear, or smell= love, hunger, fear.
concrete nouns
a noun that you can touch and see= food, wood, paper.
compound nouns
made up of more than one word= grocery store, teacher desk, shopping cart.
