Noun
Person, place, animal, idea, or thing. EX: Dog, house, Ava.
Pronoun
Takes the place of a noun. EX: They, her, him, and we.
Verb
An action word. EX: Walked, ran, and skipped.
Adverb
When, where, and how an action takes place. EX: Quickly, soon, always.
Adjective
Describes a noun or pronoun. EX: Small, scary, and big.
Conjunction
Brings words together. EX: For, and, nor, but, or, yet, so. (FANBOYS)
Preposition
Tells time, place, or position. EX: on, below, and under.
Interjection
Shows strong emotion. EX: Wow! Hey! Yeah!
Common Noun
not capitalized and not specific. EX: ball, desk, and store.
Proper Noun
Capitalized and specific. EX: Ms. Dulaney, Walmart, and Nike.
Abstract noun
A noun that you can’t see, touch, taste, hear, or smell. EX: Love, hunger, and fear.
Concrete Nouns
A noun you can touch and see. EX: Food, dog, and desk.
Compound Noun
Noun made up of more than one word. EX: Grocery store, teacher desk, shopping cart.
