what is an adjective?
adjectives are words that describe nouns e.g red, weak, tired. lethargic.
what is a noun?
noun is a place, a person, thing, for example China Town, Nagiub, table, chair.
what are the three types of nouns?
common nouns, proper nouns, and collective nouns.
what are common nouns?
They’re nouns that don’t need capital letters, for example, school, students, books
What are proper nouns?
Proper nouns are nouns that need capital letters at the start of each words, for exmaple. Forest Hill School, February, London Bridge.
What are collective nouns?
The word that we use for a group of particular common nouns, for example, a swarm of bees, a pack of cards, a bunch of grapes
What are the two subtypes of nouns?
Abstract nouns and concrete nouns
What are concrete nouns?
Concrete nouns are something that you can touch, or sense. Concrete is a concrete noun, for example bottle, wall, screen
What are abstract noun?
Abstract nouns are something that you cant touch or sense, for example anger, peace, happiness.
What is a verb?
doing words, climbing, running, sleeping
What is an adverb?
Adverbs describe verbs, for example, (he’s sleeping) peacefully, (They’re walking) aggressively, (She’s speaking) loudly.
What is a pronoun?
These are the words we use to replace nouns in sentences, for example, he, she, they, them. we, it,.
What is a preposition?
These words show the relation between words, for example, The spider is ON the wall, They climbed OVER the fence.
What is conjunction/connective?
These are words that connect parts of sentences, for example. FANBOYS: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so. (also because, therefore, however…)
